Periapsis Music and Dance’s tenth season culminates in UNBEKNOWNST, a program of five new works by our resident and guest choreographers (Rohan Bhargava, PeiJu Chien-Pott, Da’ Von Doane, Gabrielle Lamb, and Evita Zacharioglou), in collaboration with our resident composers (Annie Nikunen and Jonathan Howard Katz). All works are performed by our ensemble of dancers and musicians, with two prestigious guest musicians joining the program, cellist Jeffrey Zeigler and pianist Melinda Faylor. Join us for the second installment of our Emerging Artist Residencies, where young choreographers and composers work together to develop new work on our company, receive expert feedback, and present the works-in-progress in a studio showing. The selected artists this year are choreographers Annalee Traylor and Cameron McKinney, with composers Hilary Purrington and Ivonne K. Paredes. This evening will be a combination showing and workshop with guest teacher Tiffany Rea-Fisher, artistic director of Elisa Monte Dance. NYU Tisch has very generously offered to host this year’s residencies, and some Tisch dance students will be joining our artists in the program.

We’re offering our first open contemporary dance class, taught by resident choreographer Erin Dillon and featuring live music, including some composed and performed by Artistic Director Jonathan Howard Katz. AND, we’re teaming up with professional singer Adrian Rosas from Arts On Site, who will offer voice classes for dancers. TAKE A VOICE CLASS AND A DANCE CLASS ALL IN ONE TRIP! Voice classes are for dancers who would like to develop their vocal technique, musicality, audition skills, etc. Beginners are welcome! Dance classes are for professional contemporary dancers.
