Support Periapsis Music and Dance!

We need your support! Donations help us produce our wonderful performances and create our artistic works. Funds go primarily toward artist fees and concert production, with some additional expenses such as recording, marketing, and administrative costs.

Creating new dance works is a time- and energy-intensive endeavor for all involved. It’s a labor of love, but our dancers and musicians, as well as our guests, deserve to be reasonably paid for their time and their work. By helping us, you’re supporting the livelihoods of a range of highly talented, dedicated artists!

We can accept tax-deductible* donations by credit card, through PayPal, or by check. Every donation counts! Please see below for the exciting donor perks that await you, and visit our donation FAQ for additional information.

Would you rather spread your support through the year as a monthly donation? Thanks to PayPal, we can make that happen, too! Look to the left to sign up for monthly support.

Please scroll down for a full list of donor benefits.  And see below for information on our Artists’ Circle and additional ways to help!

*Periapsis Music and Dance, Inc., is a registered 501(c)(3) organization. Donations made to Periapsis Music and Dance, Inc., are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law, in compliance with section 170(f)(8) of the Internal Revenue Code.

Artists’ Circle

This is a unique philanthropic opportunity to directly underwrite the creation of our new repertoire works.  When you see the work in concert or on video, you’ll know that it was your contribution that helped it come into being.  Artists’ Circle donations cover all or a substantial portion of the costs of creating of a specific piece.  This could involve: commissioning the choreographer and/or composer, rehearsal time for the dancers and musicians, performance fees, and associated costs (such as costumes, sets, and studio rental).

In return for directly helping us create new repertoire, members of the Artists’ Circle will receive: a “made possible by” (or similar) credit or dedication in performance programs of the work, in the repertoire section of our website, and in the musical score (if applicable); a signed, printed copy of the musical score (if applicable); video of the piece; an invitation to a rehearsal; a signed photo from the work; and complimentary tickets to the premiere.

Artists’ Circle contributions are available in different amounts, scaled to the work they’re supporting and the scope of the support, but generally begin around $1500.  Please contact us to learn more!

FAQ

How do I view the exclusive video?

You’ll have to do two things: create a login and make a donation at or above $50, in either order.  Once we see both, we’ll administratively set your account for donor access for a year.  Please allow us 72 hours for this, as it’s all done manually!

Can I donate by check?

Yes! You can mail a check made out to Periapsis Music and Dance, Inc., to the address at the bottom of this page.  Please include an email address if it’s not printed on the check.

Are there other ways to help?

Of course!  We’re always looking for volunteers for our events, and you can also help us by sharing, liking, tweeting and re-tweeting, and generally helping us get the word out about what we’re doing.  If you’d like to help, please let us know!

Can I decline donor perks so that more of my donation is tax-deductible?

Yes, if you’d like to donate without receiving tickets or other items with monetary value, please include a note with your payment, and we’ll adjust the receipt accordingly.

I don't live in NYC. If I get tickets through my donation, can I let somebody else use them?

Sure, just let us know.

Can I spread my donation throughout the year as monthly payments?

Thanks for asking! Yes, you can create a monthly subscription through the PayPal link above and support us with a smaller amount each month. You’ll still be entitled to all the perks you’d get for donating the full amount all at once.

Why do your monthly options add up to more than the annual level?

You mean, why did we set, for example, a $100 annual donation at $8.95 a month, when $8.95 x 12 = $107.40?  This is just to offset PayPal fees, which are small, but are incurred at each instance of a monthly donation.

Can I donate anonymously?

Well, we need to know who you are to issue a tax receipt, but if you’d like us to withhold your name from our public lists of donors, we would be happy to comply.

Can I make a donation in honor of or in memory of somebody else?

Absolutely.

Do you prefer donations by check or by PayPal?

For convenience and speed, PayPal is a great option, and monthly donations can be handled automatically through them as well. But PayPal does take a small administrative fee, so to ensure that every penny of your donation goes to our efforts, a check can be more helpful to us.

Can I specify what my donation is used for?

For smaller amounts generally not, but for larger amounts we can likely work out an arrangement whereby you would directly underwrite a specific cost (such as a venue rental, fee for a guest artist, a commission, or preparation of a new repertoire piece) and we would acknowledge your gift in this way. You might even become the dedicatee of a new work! Please contact us to inquire.

Toward what does the money generally go? What are your operating expenses?

Please contact us for more information about the costs of our season. We are an artist-run organization, and by far the largest costs we incur are in support of creative and performing artists: dancers, musicians, guest choreographers, and artistic directors. Other significant costs include venue rental, studio rental, insurance, publicity, and audio/video recording.
